Originally, artists of Persian origin had started this art of creating idols of deities from single blocks of Makrana marble. This skill now is restricted to the family members of the descendants of the same artisans, who have guardedly kept the knowledge of this exquisite craft within the male members of the artisan families. No power tools or machinery give these divine idols their shape and form, and hence, Kalakriti prides itself on this range of big and small deity idols, mandir frames and more that are part of our Divya Collection.
